MTHFR Genotype + Homocysteine Panel

This test detects variations in the MTHFR gene.  Reduced enzyme activity of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a genetic risk factor for hyperhomocysteinemia, particularly when serum folate levels are low, which can lead to cardiovascular diseases, neural tube defects (especially in pregnancy), certain cancers, and psychiatric disorders like depression and autism.  Additionally, learn your homocysteine and folate levels to assess your risk and possible nutritional modifications needed ($380 value).
